My boyfriend’s totally correct in that I don’t like TV that much, at least not as a general doing-something thing…watching documentaries or cooking shows where I’m actually educating myself is more palatable to me, and it’s fun to keep up with the pop culture via Wendy Williams, but beyond that, I have less and less use for TV.
Also, I should mention I’m stuck in the middle of Weeds right now because I loved the first three seasons but am finding the fourth and fifth ones more tedious.
Today, I battled a headache…AGAIN. Well, honestly, it’s more of a sinus headache on the left side of my head; the pain moved from my tooth to my cheek to my nose to the left side of my forehead and back again. Three aspirin, nay, six aspirin and several cups of coffee later, I managed to get most of the direct pain out of the way and only have slight twinges here and there.

Life’s taken some interesting turns. I haven’t updated on here in so long…Tumblr was largely an exercise for me to express myself back at the beginning of 2011, to try to recover some part of me that seemingly had been lost. Tumblr’s a lot friendlier and more interesting than, say, Facebook, but Facebook is determined to keep all my friends on it, and if I want to maintain any kind of contact with humanity, that’s what I have to do.
So here I am, posting, watching, waiting.

The traditional term for homosexuality in China is “the passion of the cut sleeve boys” (断袖之癖), so named from the story of Emperor Ai of Han (27 BCE - 1 BCE) and Dong Xian (23 BCE - 1 BCE). As the story goes, Emperor Ai fell in love with a minor official named Dong Xian. Dong Xian quickly gained the Emperor’s favor. One afternoon as they slept in bed, Emperor Ai woke up. Rather than wake his lover, he cut the sleeves of his robe to let his lover sleep longer. Homosexuality was regarded as a normal affair up until the late Qing dynasty when the government attempted to westernize the country.
